Restoration

I have come to heal the brokenhearted. -Jesus

It is one of the most profound and beautiful of all the promises of Jesus, that He has come to heal our brokenness. Our hearts, shattered and scattered by a thousand crushing events, will be, piece by piece, healed, restored, welded and melded back again.

The process is oftentimes a lifelong one, but it is also a shared one, something that we get to participate in with others, walking alongside the great Healer (“we may participate in the divine nature” is how the Apostle Peter phrases it — see 2 Peter 1:3-4). Not only are we ourselves healed by the grace of Jesus, but as we are in this process, He invites us to walk alongside him in the healing of others. This is what He means by giving us the title “Ministers of Reconciliation” (see 2 Corinthians 5:11-21, espeically v. 18).

This page is dedicated to various thoughts and experiences along the way in this ministry of reconciliation, for myself and for others: journal entries, pictures of restoration in media, experiences in a Christian counseling graduate school, quotes, stories, prayers, counseling resources, and the like. I am not an expert of any kind, personally or professionally, on the issues of the heart or counseling; I am just wrestling to understand and work in the Kingdom. But I believe that friends of God are given in Christ all the “riches of knowledge and wisdom” (Colossians 2:2-3) that we need. In light of the gracious invitation we have in Christ for this work, I’ve left discussion and comments open so that we may work out this part of our salvation together. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and find something on these pages helpful or useful or provoking. And then speak up, chime in, and offer what God has brought you into on the journey.
