The Roar of the Waterfall

19 Apr

“Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.”
-Psalm 42:7

I faint, I sink
I let go to fall fast
to fall deep
tossed under, crashed beneath
into an Ocean, into a Sea.
Bleeding from a piercing sun,
pouring like a river’s call,
I am plundged beneath a roar-
the roar of His waterfall.
Here, torn again -
stripped of all I am,
washed and broken and bruised
with nothing else to lose…
A breath in the gasps – air at last
from the rush just past…

…But…
…so still the sound,
so quiet now.
Have I gotten lost somehow?
The water is still and dry and dead -
I’d sooner have the flood instead.
